I did early this morning!

Had the day off and bit the bullet and spent the gas to go hunting a bit.
Absolutely beautiful day here in the Chicago area!

Came home tho with a dog who preferred to swim in the lake rather than hunt
letterboxes, so the inside of my van didn't have such a beautiful morning.
Oh well. It was well worth it. Now I have to go dry out the inside of the
van.

Nothing like ink oon your fingers and the smell of wet dog in the car to complete a day of letterboxing for me! I'm jealous that you got out today, good for you!

Not today. Gotta work. (Actually, I will not have a free Saturday until after the first of the year. I ran the concept of the Tyler TShirt Gathering past Pharaoh (my boss) and King Kahuna (his boss) on separate occasions, with the same result: "A SATURDAY? a WHOLE Saturday? in DECEMBER? are you MAD????" So I can only stay till noon. Maybe 1PM if I push it.)

Not tomorrow. Gotta work.

But Monday....Monday I am free. True, I will be saddled with my son, who got himself suspended from school for being an idiot. He thinks he's going to stay home with the couch and the refrigerator and the TV and the CD player. I think it would be good for him to take an extensive hike, and we'll see if he can keep up with Mom like he claims. Bwahahahaha.

saturday started foggy and overcast but became GLORIOUS

we went looking for a 5 box series in Hopkinton St Pk MASS
took us 2 1/2 hours to find 3 boxes

the PLANTER had noted that box 3/4 had been "reported" missing
and we tried to find them "JUST IN CASE" the searchers had not looked hard enough
but they seem to be gone

we appreciated the missing notice and enjoyed our "SEARCH" anyway
what a great day to be out in the autumn woods

hope everyone had the chance to get out

Ahhh, the teenage punishment boxing. Done that myself. It's never
worked out for me. One time he left me on the trail in the middle of
a box series to return to the car and run down the battery. This was
2 hours from home at a state park which was closing and nearly empty.
Another time we stopped at a Weird NJ site and saw some interesting
salamanders and other wildlife on the way to the box. And the worst,
by far the worst was Cyclonic's PA gathering. He told me that he met
interesting people, everyone was really nice to him, that he had no
idea how cool Cyclonic was and that he had a great time going on
rides with him. Park food, games. Boy, that's showing him!

Seriously, he hates when we 'box on the way'. "It's almost a drive
by, short walk, simple clues" I tell him. Through some comedy of
errors, these boxes always seem to take the longest. Bwahahahaha.

Actually things were preettty good. We did not get out as early as I'd hoped--but that was because I was off snagging First Finder for hexacat's new Lenape Indian boxes (very cool, evil clues, great stamps). So instead of the major hike, we opted to go to Palmyra for Silent Doug's The Cove. Didn't go as far as stamping in, but he was pleasant.

He even agreed to another "I can keep up with you" outing. (I just have to decide which mountain.) But he only put up with getting the one box & was not fooled by the suggestion of a drive-by farther north/"on the way home"....
